This summer, I had the absolute privilege of taking part in a magical destination wedding in Sirmione, capturing a German couple's special day through a unique live art experience.

A Heartfelt Surprise by the Bride's Mother and Sister
Destination weddings on Lake Garda are always full of romance, but this celebration had an extra layer of emotion. The live drawing service wasn't booked by the bride and groom themselves. Instead, it was commissioned as a thoughtful, top-secret surprise by the bride's mother and sister, who traveled all the way from Germany to give the couple an unforgettable wedding gift.

Setting Up the Artist’s Corner at the Sirmione's Wedding Location
On the wedding day, I arrived at the stunning Sirmione venue to set up my artistic station. I arranged my sketching area, creating a cozy and inviting corner where guests could catch a glimpse of art coming to life.
Shortly after, the bride, groom, and their guests arrived. The element of surprise worked to absolute perfection! The bride was overjoyed and completely taken aback, having never expected a live drawing experience at her own wedding.
The Creative Process: Capturing the Magic Without the Wait
One common concern couples have about live portrait sessions is whether they will have to spend hours posing instead of enjoying their party. To make the experience seamless and stress-free, we began with a quick and fun smartphone photo session.
The Reference Shoot: I captured the newlyweds' features and expressions in their stunning wedding attire.
Autonomous Work: Armed with these reference shots, the couple was free to enjoy their cocktail hour and dinner with family and friends, while I went to work independently at my easel, selecting the most successful compositions to sketch onto fine art paper.
A Moving Reveal During the Evening Reception
Working with intense focus, I brought the portrait to completion over the course of three hours. We saved the grand reveal for the evening dancing phase of the party.
Handing over the finished graphite artwork to the bride and groom was an intensely emotional moment. They were visibly moved and deeply touched to see themselves interpreted through such an artistic and delicate medium. The guests, who had spent the evening sneaking curious glances at the drawing "in progress" between one dance and the next, joined in with warm applause and shared emotion.
