The indescribable beauty of places around the world kept in my heart and mind. This piece, in particular, is a semi-abstract image inspired by the rocky beaches of Esperance, in Western Australia.
The red and golden rocks stand out against an ultramarine blue sky, a colour that I love to use and that reminds me of the skies of Australia.
To reproduce the roughness of the rocks, I used some Australian red earth that I ground before spreading it on the canvas. The gold leaf inserted on some points matches the rough texture and simulates the surface of the coast shining under the sun. A bird’s eye view of the sea and the beach of very light sand joins the upper part of the composition.
The original oil painting is no longer available, but I am willing to paint similar art pieces on commission. Please send me your request on the Contact page.
