Animals are once again protagonists of my art and their shapes are celebrated by my graphic sign and by gold. This engraving highlights the tusks of the elephant, which I represented in gold, since they are priceless. Instead, they do have a price, even if they are expensive and are taken from the killed animal. Unfortunately, according to traditional Chinese medicine, the tusks are indicated for many uses that apparently would still justify the illegal trade and the extinction of the animal that owns it. Probably the world will have to do without the elephant’s tusks one day. There will be no more around.
Drops of dried blood stand out on the white of the precious paper and drip along the golden fangs. The blood represents a clear image of death, it is real and it’s my blood. Each copy is in this case even more unique than normal. There are 8 copies of this etching, each completed with gold leaf and blood drops separately. This specimen for sale is the 5th of 8.
