With art, I try to convey the importance of protecting the environment and biodiversity. In this particular painting I wanted to give shape to Mother Nature, depicting her as I imagined her: partly plant, partly animal, with human features and wrapped in rain – source of water and life. This almost mythological figure, who gives life to all of us, has in fact the breast deliberately clearly visible, as a representation of fertility. Under the breast, however, we notice an important detail: she is bleeding. She is showing us her deep wound, which unequivocally recalls the grave abuses that we as mankind are afflicting her. To give more truth to this wound, I covered it with my blood. This fantastic creature also has my features, even if not imprinted too clearly, wanting instead to give her also universal traits. So, my intention was to create a work, yes, very personal, but that would involve each of us.
Mother Nature reveals other important details: despite the deep wound, she is standing in front of us, still alive and alert: we still have time to save her and to avoid further disasters, but we must act quickly!
