Golden Sciliar

The Dolomites turn golden in the sunlight. These mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a symbol and the Sciliar in particular is an icon of South Tyrol, the artist’s birthplace. The people of Bolzano grow up in the presence of this massif, an imposing and secure presence that reigns over the city. Wild horses graze peacefully, now rare in the area, which, in the artist’s opinion, is far too anthropised. So she reworks a landscape of the famous Alpe di Siusi and removes the human presence from the vast green field.

The gold leaf, as in many of my other paintings, is intended to emphasise the message of how extremely valuable nature and its various ecosystems are. So gold has not only a decorative but also a symbolic value in the composition.

The original oil painting is no longer available, but I am available to paint similar art pieces on commission. Please send me your request on the Contact page.
